Episode #29: MANAJ – KRS ONE – WARREN G

Coming up on this episode of the Hip Hop Report…female rapper Manaj comes out of the shadows of her legendary dad, Dr. Dre….KRS One re-launches The Stop The Violence Movement and G-Funk rap pioneer Warren G is back in the lab and gives his take on today’s rappers…All that and more coming up next on the Hip Hop Report.

Female rapper, Manaj. is stepping out of the shadows of her super producer dad, Dr. Dre and making a name for herself. She’s putting the finishing touches on her documentary DVD and mix CD titled Livin’ In Daddy’s Shadow. The film gives viewers an inside look at Menaj’s life as the legendary producers daughter and her quest to make it in the music business. Manaj tells us what inspired her to follow in the footsteps of her famous father:

Dr. Dre is not involved with her forthcoming project and reportedly hasn’t been very supportive of his daughter’s rap career. Manaj explains:

Hip Hop icon KRS-One is getting ready to re-launch the Stop The Violence Movement due to the current rise of violence and negativity amongst youth around the world. He originally started the Stop The Violence Movement in 1989 with the release of Self Destruction, a song that included guest appearances by BDP, Public Enemy, Heavy D, MC Lyte, D-Nice, Kool Moe Dee, Doug E Fresh and others. Blastmaster KRS has brought on Ludacris, Lil Wayne, Chingy, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes and rap legends Whodini to bring forth the new anti-violence campaign that will include a series of Stop The Violence PSA’s. Lets flash back to 1989 with a clip from the Self Destruction Video.

G-Funk rapper Warren G has been making his rounds on television. He appeared on the 5th session of Celebrity Fit Club and more recently he mentored actress Countess Vaughn on Celebrity Rap Superstar. He’s currently in the studio working on his forthcoming yet to be titled CD which he says will have a host of guest appearances including a 213 reunion and a possible collaboration with his step brother and hip hop icon, Dr. Dre. Warren, who has also been credited for being one of the creators of the “G-Funk sound, shares his thoughts on today’s rap music:

T.I.’S arrest on gun charges has been the topic of conversation on many popular hip hop radio shows and amongst hip hop heads. Rap vet Warren G, who has witnessed a lot of drama in his own career, shares his thoughts on the T.I. situation:

At press time, T.I. was released on $3 million and restricted to his home. If convicted, he reportedly faces up to 10 years in prison.
