HIP HOP REPORT
Episode: #34: FLO-RIDA – KARRINE STEFFANS – Lil Wayne
JANUARY 2008 (3)

Coming up on this episode of the hip hop report we’ll go down south to Flo Rida…Karrine “Superhead” Steffans says no to and Lil Waynes is arrested in Arizona on drug charges…all that and more coming up on next on the hip hop report!

Rapper Flo Rida joins a long list of rappers making some noise out of the south. As a youngster, he got a first hand look at the rap biz by hanging out with his brother-in-law who happened to be a hype man for the legendary 2 Live Crew. It was the passing of one of his sister that inspired him to seriously pursue rap music. He made his mainstream debut on DJ Khaled’s album “We The Best”. Since then he’s released a couple of independent street cuts including “Birthday” featuring Rick Ross and his hit single “Low” featuring fellow Floridian T-Pain. “Low” has topped Billboard’s top 100 singles chart and we got the video right here on the Hip Hop Report.

Flo Rida says his forthcoming debut album “Mail On Sunday” covers everything from hardships and struggle to good times in the club. Look for the new CD to drop February 2008.

Video Vixen and best selling author Karrine Steffans is denying rumors that she has signed with Eddie Murphy’s record label. Steffans says she has no interest in having a rap career although she appeared on King Magazine’s mixtape “Freaky Flows Seductively hosted by Karrine Steffans.” Karrine released her first tell-all book Confessions of a Video Vixen in 2005 that told stories of her life and love affairs with some of hip hop’s most prominent stars. This past fall she released her second book Vixen Diaries and she shares with us what she has coming up next:

In addition to writing books, Karrine says she’s working on a radio and reality show and more importantly bringing awareness to young girls on the issue of abuse and the dangers of the entertainment business.

Lil Wayne seems to be in a bit of hot water. The New Orleans rapper was arrested on felony drug possession after police search his tour bus at a border checkpoint in Arizona last month. Allegedly, the police dogs sniffed out some marijuana, cocaine and ecstacy that led to the arrest of Lil Weezy whose bail was set at just over $10,000. Kids just say no to drugs! We’ll keep ya posted on that one! Meanwhile, Lil Wayne recently dropped The Leak EP and is getting ready to release The Carter III. He hasn’t confirmed a date but reportedly its due out March 18th. Lets check out the latest track that Lil Wayne is featured on. The Sweetest Girl by Wyclef Jean feat Akon, Lil Wayne, & Niia on the Hip Hop Report.

Well wishes goes out to hip hop crooner Nate Dogg who suffered a stroke in December. He’s currently recovering at a rehabilitation facility in Southern California. Friends close to Nate Dogg says his voice is intact and a full recovery is expected.
